Kathmandu : The election schedule for ten thematic committees under the House of Representatives (HoR) has been put off. As stated in a notice issued by HoR Secretariat today, all programmes related to the elections have been postponed until a further notice.
As per the earlier schedule, the election programmes were to convene from 11:00 am tomorrow (September 1) and end on September 2.
The 10 thematic committees remaining under the domain of HoR that serves as the lower house in the bicameral Federal Parliament of Nepal are Education and Health; Public Accounts; Finance; International Relations; Industry and Commerce and Labour and Consumer Welfare; Law, Justice and Human Rights; Agriculture, Cooperative, and Natural Resources; Women and Social; State Affairs; and Good Governance, Development and Technology.
The National Assembly, the upper house, has already elected chairpersons of three, out of four, thematic committees. The chairs were elected Wednesday unopposed while the Sustainable Development and Good Governance Committee is yet to get its chair as no candidacy had been registered in the election process concluded earlier.
